Krka National Park

Host's pick

National park on the Krka river inland from Šibenik, famous for the Skradinski buk waterfalls, wooden walkways and the island monastery of Visovac; tickets via the official webshop.

Exact location not yet verified. Use the Google Maps search.

Why it's worth it

Krka National Park protects the gorge of the Krka river between Knin and Skradin. Its best-known section is Skradinski buk, a long staircase of travertine cascades crossed by wooden walkways through reeds and woodland, with old watermills along the way. Further upstream are the island monastery of Visovac and the Roški slap falls. For guests coming from Primošten, the park's main road entrance is Lozovac, where you park and, in the Apr–Oct season, take the park bus down to Skradinski buk or walk the trail. Other entrances are Skradin (with a boat ride), Roški slap/Laškovica and Burnum/Puljane. Allow most of a day. The park is very busy in July and August; an early start or a late-afternoon visit is more pleasant.
