Šibenik Old Town
The medieval heart of Šibenik: steep stone lanes, the UNESCO-listed cathedral, fortresses above the town and a lively waterfront, an easy day out from Primošten.
Why it's worth it
Šibenik is the nearest city and the natural day trip from Primošten. Its old town climbs from the waterfront in a maze of stepped stone lanes, small squares and churches, with the cathedral of St James at its centre and fortresses on the hills above.
Good ways to spend a day: wander the lanes without a plan, climb to one of the fortresses for the view over the channel and islands, and finish on the riva. The city tourist board (visitsibenik.hr) publishes current events, fortress opening times and guided walks.
Šibenik is also the departure point for boats to Zlarin and the other islands of the archipelago.
Good to know
Parking in the centre is limited; use the car parks on the edge and walk. Fortress tickets, hours and events: check visitsibenik.hr or the venues directly.
Requires ferry or boat. Check the latest timetable with the operator.
